  We stopped here with 2 very hungry children on Friday evening, October 21, 2016 on our way from Southern Maryland to WV for a short weekend vacation. I have to admit as we walked in and they asked if we had reservations and saw the environment that I immediately thought, this may not be the right place to sit down with 2 young children (6 & 8). However, the hostess stated, that's okay, we have a table available here. She seated us and we were served water almost immediately. The waitress followed within minutes to take our drink orders, and shortly after we were served bread (to the kids enjoyment). When we looked at the menu, I didn't see anything that the kids would eat and admit that I panicked a little. The waitress came back with our drinks, and asked to take our order. I asked if they had anything other than what was on the menu that we could order for the kids since they wouldn't eat anything listed. She immediately offered the fettuccine with just red sauce. Problem solved! I ordered the crab cakes and my husband ordered the lamb. It was about 30 minutes before we received our food, but, they did bring another serving of bread which kept the kids happy. The food came and not only was the presentation amazing, the taste was AMAZING!! I'm from Southern Maryland where seafood is a way of life and I have to say these were the best crab cakes I've ever had!! The lamb as well was melt in your mouth good. The waitress was very quick to provide refills and ask if we needed anything more. The people, although I originally thought may be bothered by the kids (and maybe a few were), were very welcoming and talked and laughed with us and I feel enjoyed the kids. I have to say this was certainly a very pleasant experience for us and I look forward to stopping here again if our travels take us through this area.

  This small restaurant is located in the Plains, a quiet little village just off exit 31 on the I-66. It is well worth a detour if you're passing. The food is very good and the daily specials are always good value. Portion sizes are just right: not gargantuan as in so many American restaurants. The staff are always polite and helpful, without being obtrusive. This is one of the best restaurants for miles around so call in next time you're passing on the 66.
